Free weekly meeting where parents and teens can gain practical tools and support for substance abuse issues and other high-risk teen behavior. The meeting is held every Wednesday evening from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Apollo High School in Simi Valley. Meetings are also available in other cities. Call 800-FOR-TEEN for more information or to find other meeting times/locations.

The 20 Minute Guide
An online guide offered by the Center for Motivation and Change (CMC) with tips and tools for how to talk with a loved one who is abusing drugs or alcohol and help them become motivated to change. The site offers a guide for parents and a guide for partners. Both guides are full of practical, compassionate, and effective tools for families concerned about substance abuse. The 20 Minute Guide is based on the CRAFT approach to helping loved ones address their substance abuse problem. CRAFT grew out of research on the Science of Motivation and how people change and offers tools and strategies that are proven more effective than traditional substance abuse treatment approaches. The American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (AATOD) was founded in 1984 to enhance the quality of patient care in treatment programs by promoting the growth and development of comprehensive opioid treatment services throughout the United States.
